Give Yourself the Gift of Movement

Monica Stassen

Cancer Support Volunteer, Cancer Survivor

Monica Stassen is a cancer survivor and a 2Unstoppable member since 2018.  Exercise played an important role in her life prior to diagnosis, but it took on a deeper meaning during cancer treatment and recovery. Fitness activities are both physically and mentally uplifting for her and provide a powerful way to positively impact her own outcome.  She has found that supporting and inspiring others to exercise is as important and healing as being supported.  She is passionate about sharing the unique 2Unstoppable community with other women impacted by cancer, and she is honored to serve on the Board of Directors.

Monica’s professional background is in the fields of international education and publishing, including at the Institute of International Education and at Cambridge University Press.  She serves on the Advisory Board of the Johns Hopkins University chapter of Camp Kesem, a national summer camp program that supports children who have a parent with cancer.  A bilingual English and German speaker, Monica has had professional and academic experiences in England, France, Germany, India, Japan and the United States.  She holds a B.A. in Government and French Literature from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut.

Monica is a dedicated yogi and has trained in the healing practice of reiki. She resides in Falls Church, VA, with her husband, son, daughter and two dogs who make sure she takes daily walks.
